Shananigans Workshop

We introduced creativity through the ordinary

We introduced creativity through the ordinary

We conducted a Creative Thinking Workshop as part of Kasturba, Kottayam's summer camp for children aged 8–15. The focus was on encouraging children to look at everyday objects differently and explore the idea that creativity can come from the most ordinary things.

Through daily object art, the children worked with simple, familiar items and reimagined them into something entirely new. The aim was to shift their perspective, helping them move beyond the obvious and find meaning, stories, and possibilities in the mundane.

Alongside creating, we also introduced them to the importance of presentation in art. We explored how framing and mounting can completely change how a piece is perceived, and how thoughtful display adds value to their work. The workshop also touched on clear communication in design, helping them express their ideas with more intention and confidence.

Overall, the session was about building curiosity, encouraging exploration, and helping children realise that creativity is not about complexity, but about how you choose to see the world.
